Intensity of magnetic field.

Intensity of magnetic field or strength of magnetic field at any point is defined as the force experienced by a unit north pole placed at that point. →It is denoted by B                     B=F/m Where, F=magnetic force             m= north pole strength

Biot savarts law

A wire carrying current produces magnetic field all around it.The intensity at any point can be determined by Biot-savart's law.

Permeability(μ).

It is defined as ratio between magnetic induction(B) to the magnetising field strength(H).                          I.e μ=B/H

Dip or inclination.

Answer:- Dip at a place is defined as the angle between direction of total intensity of earth's magnetic field and a horizontal line in the magnetic meridian at that place.

What is equatorial line ?

Answer:- A line passing through a point midway between the two poles of a magnetic di-pole and perpendicular to its axial line gives the equatorial line of the magnetic dipole.

What is axial line ?

Answer:- A line passing through the north and south poles of a magnetic di-pole is known as the axial line of the magnetic dipole.

Coercivity.

Answer:- Coercivity of a magnetic substance is that value of magnetising field which is required to reduce the residual intensity of magnetisation in the sample to zero.

Retentivity or Remanence.

Answer:- Value of intensity of magnetisation retained by the magnetic substance when the magnetising field is reduced to zero is called residual magnetism or retentivity or remanence.

Hysteresis.

Answer:- The phenomenon by virtue of which intensity of magnetisation lags behind the magnetising field, when a magnetic substance is taken through a complete cycle of magnetisation, is called hysteresis.

Uniform magnetic field.

Answer:- A magnetic field is said to be uniform if it has same strength in magnitude and direction at all the points.It is represented by a set of parallel lines of force.

Fleming's left hand rule.

Answer:- “Stretch first finger, central finger and the thumb of your left hand in mutually perpendicular directions, if the first finger points to the field, central finger points to electric current (motion of the positive charge), the thumb gives the direction of force.”

Definition of one ampere.

Answer:- One ampere is the current which when maintained in two parallel straight conductors, of infinite extent and negligible area of cross-section separated  one metre apart, in vacuum would produce a force of 2×10^-⁷ per metre length of the conductors.

Horse shoe magnet 🧲.

Answer:- A magnet bent into U-shape and having its free poles facing each other.

Magnetic induction.

Answer:- Magnetic induction at any point inside a matter is defined as numbers of lines of force associated per unit area when area is held perpendicular to the lines of force.

Susceptibility.

Answer:- It is defined as the ratio between intensity of magnetisation to the magnetising field strength.Denoted by ‘ χ’.     I.e      χ=I/H

Magnetic field.

Answer:- Magnetic field, of any magnetic pole, is the region(space) around it in which its magnetic influence can be realised.

Tangent law.

Answer:- It is a relation which states the condition of equilibrium of a magnet subjected to two uniform magnetic fields at right angles to each other.
