introduction of differential equation

The equation involving derivatives of dependant variable with respect to independent variable is called differential equation. Here we see y=asin(x+b) , a & b are called arbitrary constant .(means any constant) and the given equation is called general solution. if we replace a & b by some fixed value then the value is called particular constant and the equation is called particular equation. There are some solutions which cannot be obtain from the general solution by taking particular values of the orbitrary constant.such solution is known as singular solution.

types of differential equation and what are they?

Depending upon the number of independent variable differential equation are of two types    A.ordinary differential equation If an equation contains derivative with respect to a single independent variable then it is called ordinary differential equation. B.partial differential equation If an equation contains derivative with respect to more than one independent variable then it is called partial differential equation.

degree of differential equation

The  positive integer power present in highest order  derivative of given differential equation is called degree of  that differential equation. e.g

order of differential equation
