Anomalous dispersion.

Increase in refractive index with increase in wavelength is termed as anomalous dispersion. It is noticed that anomalous dispersion is present at those wavelengths corresponding to the absorption bands of the medium. For example, in the case of sodium vapour in the visible region, anomalous dispersion is noticed at wavelengths 5890 Å and 5896 Å.

Cautchy's formula.

Answer:- A relation between Refractive index of material of prism and the wavelength of light passing through it.

What is prism ?

Answer:- A prism is a wedge-shaped body made from a refracting medium bounded by two plane faces inclined to eachother at some angle

Impure spectrum.

Answer:- Impure spectrum is a spectrum in which the constituent colours overlap each other.

Dispersion.

Answer:- When white light passes from one optical medium to another, different colors of the light split, and this phenomenon of splitting of light into its components as a result of refraction is called dispersion.
