what is electric dipole ?

Answer:-
An electric dipole is a pair of equal and opposite charges -q & +q separated by a
distance 2a.
The line containing two charges defines a direction in space.
I.e
The direction of dipole moment always from negative charge to positive charge.
The total charge on electric dipole is always zero. But electric field due to dipole is not zero  because distance between -q & +q is small so net electric field at a point not exactly cancelled out.
