Why carbon tetrachloride is non-polar though C-Cl bond is polar ?

Answer:-
As dipole moment is a vector quantity, the dipole moment of polyatomic molecule depends upon the geometry of the molecule.Though there are four C-Cl  polar bonds in carbon tetrachloride, it has no dipole moment as the vector sum of the individual C-Cl bond moments is zero.
