What is osmosis and osmotic pressure ?

Image
Answer:- The process in which solvent molecules flow from pure solvent(solution have less amount of solute)side to solution(have more solute) side through a semi permeable membrane (SPM) is called osmosis. I.e * The flow will continue till the equilibrium is attained. The flow of the solvent from its side to solution side through a semi permeable membrane can be stopped if some extra pressure is applaid on the solvent from solution side. The pressure that just stops the flow of solvent is called osmotic pressure.

what is peptization process ?

Image
Answer :- Peptization may be defined as the process of converting a precipitate into colloidal sol. by Shaking it with dispersion medium in the presence of a small amount of electrolytes. * The electrolyte used for this propose is called peptizing agent.e.g kCl etc. * During peptization, the precipitate adsorbs one of the ion of the electrolyte on its surface. e.g And ultimately the bond is break between the precipitate.and we get colloidal particle.

What is Freundlich adsorption isotherm ?

Image
Explanation:- The variation in the amount of gas adsorbed by the adsorbent with pressure at constant temperature can be expressed by means of a curve termed as adsorption isotherm. According to freundlich isotherm,     The extent of adsorption of a gas per unit mass of adsorbent depends upon the pressure of that gas. I.e Look at the Graph,(x/m) vs (p) Equation (1) is the general form of freundlich adsorption isotherm. Case-1( at low pressure) If  x/m =kp¹ That implies 1/n=1 I.e  n=1 So at low pressure freundlich adsorption isotherm holds good because initially their is more adsorption occur. Case-2 (at high pressure) If x/m=constant  i.e1/n=0 That implies n=infinity So at high pressure x/m independent on pressure because after saturation pressure their is no adsorption occur due to no space on adsorbent. At saturation pressure Amount of gas adsorbed=amount of gas desorbed. Look at the logarithm graph of equation (1) This is all about freundlich adsor

what is radioactivity ?

Answer:- Radioactivity is a nuclear phenomenon in which an unstable nucleus undergoes decay(means emit). Three types of radioactivity decay occur in nature.i.e (I) alpha decay in which a helium nucleus emitted. (II) Beta decay in which  electrons or positrons are emitted. (III) Gamma decay in which high energy photons are emitted.

why electric lines of force do not intersect each other ?

Image
Reason:- Tangent at any point on the line of force gives the direction of electric intensity at that point. I.e let two electric lines of force intersect each other then their is possibility of two direction of electric lines of force at that point which is not possible because every point have a unique direction of electric field.that is why electric lines of force do not intersect each other. Look at the figure which give you more clarity about my words Are you satisfied by this answer

what is the means of coagulation or precipitation ?

Answer:- We know lyophobic solution are more stable due to presence of charge on their  Collaidal particles. If somehow the charge  is removed, then the collaidal particles come nearer(because in case their is no attractive or repulsive force) to form aggregate(or coagulate)and became settle down under the force of gravity in solution. That process of settling of collaidal particles is called coagulate or precipitation of the solution.

what is homogeneous & heterogeneous catalysis process ?

Image
Answer:- Catalysis process broadly divided into two groups: (A) Homogeneous catalysis :-      If the reactants and the catalyst are      Present in same phase in a chemical           reaction then the catalysis process is      known as homogeneous catalysis. e.g (B) Heterogeneous catalysis:-       If the reactants and the catalyst are in         Present different phase in a chemical          reaction then the catalysis process is          known as heterogeneous catalysis. e.g Are you satisfied by this answer

what is electric dipole ?

Image
Answer:- An electric dipole is a pair of equal and opposite charges -q & +q separated by a distance 2a. The line containing two charges defines a direction in space. I.e The direction of dipole moment always from negative charge to positive charge. The total charge on electric dipole is always zero. But electric field due to dipole is not zero  because distance between -q & +q is small so net electric field at a point not exactly cancelled out.

what is electrode potential ?

Image
Answer:- When a strip of metal(electrode) is brought in contact with the solution containing its own ions then the strip of metal gets positively charged or negatively charged and results into a potential being developed between the metallic strip and it's solution which is known as electrode potential. If at any electrode oxidation occur then it is called oxidation potential.simillarly if at any electrode reduction occur then it is called reduction potential. Look at the oxidation potential of zinc electrode, simillarly same things occur in case of reduction potential. Are you satisfied by this Answer

Anhydrous HCL is a bad conductor of electricity but aqueous HCL is a conductor. why ?

Reason:- For conductivity, the charge carriers are required. In anhydrous (no water) state HCL is not ionised and no charge carrier ions are available, hence bad conductor. However in aqueous solution , HCL is fully ionised producing H^+ & cl^- and conducts electricity. Are you satisfied by this answer

why crystalline solids are called anisotropic ?

Reason:- In crystalline  solid some of their  physical properties  like electrical resistance or refractive index show different values  when measured in different directions in the same crystal. That is why crystalline solids are called anisotropic in nature. Are you satisfied by this answer

why graphite conducts electricity ?

Image
Reason:- Both Graphite and diamond belongs to covalent solid but dimond does not conduct electricity. But Graphite conduct electricity due to its typical structure. look at the structure of graphite. Carbon atoms are arranged in layers and each atom is covalently bonded with three carbon atoms in the same layer. The forth valence electron of each atom is present in different layers and is free to move about.these free electrons make graphite a good conductor of electricity.   A re you satisfied by this answer

what is the means of dielectric constant ?

Image
Answer:- Dielectric constant is a property of medium. Dielectric constant of a medium is defined as the ratio of permitivity of that medium to the permitivity of free space. Dielectric constant is also known as relative permitivity of the medium .this defination is only valid in C.G.S system. It is denoted by. K   I.e As it is the ratio of two like quantities it is unitless and dimensionless. More is the dielectric constant of the medium lesser is the Electrostatic force in that medium. It depends only on the medium on which charges are placed. Are you satisfied by this answer

what is the means of conservation of charge ?

Image
Answer:-  Conservation of charge means charge can neither be created nor be destroyed in any condition. Charges may get redistributed in a surface but total charge of the isolated system is always conserved.like conservation of energy, conservation of charge is also a universal law. e.g A neutron turns into a proton & an electron but have equal and opposite charges and the total charge is zero before and after the creation. i.e Are you satisfied by this answer

why electric lines of force always perpendicular to conductor surface ?

Image
Reason:- We know electric lines of force is a vector quantity if it inclined in some angle to the surface of conductor then it resolve into two components i.e one tangential component and another perpendicular component. tangential component accelerate the local charges(charges of the conductor)in their direction.so charge can move but in electrostatic charge could not be move .but In  case of perpendicular electric lines of force it could  cancelled out due to some unspecified force so perpendicular field of lines can not accelerate the charges of conductor and  it verify the law of electrostatic.  it is the answer to the question why electric field lines always perpendicular to conductor surface. Look at the spherical conductor surface which gave you more clarity about my words, Are you satisfied by this answer

what is principle of superposition ?

Image
Answer: Principle of superposition states that:- If a system contain n charges placed near to each other and behave independent to  each other then net electrostatic force in any rest  charge is the vector sum of all the forces produced by all remaining charges on that rest charge. I.e

what is the means of point charge ?

How to know four vectors are coplanar?

Answer:- Let four points are A,B,C,D which are lies in one plane.the position vector of their with respect to origin are OA,OB,OC & OD respectively. Now,AB=OB-OA         AC=OC-OA          AD=OD-OA We know 1/6{AB•(AC×AD)} gives the volume of tetrahedron. if four vectors lies in one plane(coplanar) then their volume is zero[i.e AB•(AC×AD)=0]. So to prove the given four vectors are coplanar we have to show the determinant of AB•(AC×AD) is zero. Are you satisfied by this answer

why a•(b×a) give zero value?

Reason:- We know in a•(b×a),b×a vector is perpendicular to both a vector & b vector.so angle between a vector & b×a vector is 90°.(Angle,x=90°) I.e a•(b×a)=|a||b|cosx=|a||b|cos90° I.e a•(b×a)=0 ( because cos90°=0). It is the answer to the question why a•(b×a ) or b•(c×b) or c•(a×c) all are give zero value. Are you satisfied by this answer

How to know three vector are coplanar?

Answer We know scalar triple product of three vectors give volume of parallelopiped.if three vector lies in one plane(i.e coplanar)then their is no volume that implies  I.e scalar triple product is zero {a•(b×c)=0} when three vector lies in one plane. Are you satisfied by this answer
